More animal fun!

Two new illustrations this week. Happy mothers day mum! I took inspiration from another one of our school runs I do with little Liv! She's so cute and loves being high up on my shoulders when we walk back up the path.

Liv calls these foxes but initially they were intended as squirrels.
Take them as you wish :)

And this illustration I did for my friend Sandra's babyshower. She's German, likes football and son number one likes lions so I couldn't resist to put it all together into this print for the new baby!

Pin the tail...

This week my little girl went to a Dino themed birthday party. I thought I'd contribute to the games... Here's my "pin the tail on the Dino" for Frankie, Age 2.

King Rhino

This is what came into my head for this weeks Illustration Friday "King". Admittedly the glasses and frilly pants were an afterthought but I kind of like them ;)

Springing back to life!

There's nothing like an illustration Friday to get me blogging again so here it is, step one to getting more organised and having a little fun with some colour :)

Time to nest

With just over a week to go till our new arrival, I'm feeling more and more like an animal. Yesterday my walk resembled that of a large penguin. Today I think I'm preparing to nest, perhaps in a drawer somewhere, like a cat! The countdown to becoming a mum begins... Will keep you posted!

Back home

Hi all, It's been a bit long since my last blog post and so sorry if I've let things slip a bit in my online presence of late! Very bad, but I've been mega busy moving countries again and preparing for our new baby, due in just 4 weeks! Very exciting!

Anyway, I'm back on Uk soil now and after a fabulous year away in Thailand experiencing some incredible culture and producing "The Phuket Colouring Book" http://www.sophieillustration.co.uk/book.php it feels rather lovely to be back home amongst friends and family and a newly acquired residence, in the lovely village of Hurstpierpoint!

Illustration News, last month I was delighted to be asked to work on a commission from Canada for a series of promotional images for "The Snowflake Charity Ball" to be held in May 2013 in the countries Capital. The beneficiaries are the Children's Hospital of Eastern Ontario (CHEO) Inflammatory Bowel Disease Center and Screen Colons Canada, so all great causes I'm glad to be contributing towards.

The theme for the event is "Springtime in Paris", here's a sneak peak at the image I produced to be transferred onto various promo items around the Capital. And yes... you guessed it, I couldn't help but sneak in a few dogs...French dogs obviously ;)

Oh and Zebras! Another favourite of mine :)

IF Refresh

So for this week's Illustration Friday I decided to splash out on the colour a bit -
It's been raining all day here but working with bright colours has cheered me up no end!

Dog World

Here are the latest collated dog doodles from my sketchbook.
A screen print on the horizon me thinks? ...

I know... maybe I should stop drawing dogs...
but they're all so different and  funny and cute!
P.S. Spot the Frankenstein dog :)

A commendation!

For those of you like me that follow Tigerprint and it's monthly competitions you may have been eagerly awaiting a result last week for the "Play Time Puzzle" Competition. This time after extending the deadline the judges were still unable to find an overall winner that they felt answered the brief to its full potential.

However, in light of this they did decide to pick 4 designs to commend and feature on their blog. I was delighted to be part of the 4 selected and will be receiving the lovely 'Reinventing Letterpress' book through the post as a prize! Woo!

Thanks very much for the mention :)

My concept was a card puzzle with 26 animals beginning with letters of the alphabet.
A game to help little ones develop motor skills and recognition skills through learning their alphabet and animals by joining 2 pieces to make one.  As they try to match the correct heads to bodies they may stumble across some funny combinations like perhaps a "Zepanda" or even a "crocseal" - A puzzle that's sure to get a laugh!

The Phuket Colouring Competition

This week i'm delighted to say I have a new illustration commission out here in Phuket.
With thanks to my lovely neighbour and editor of the Phuket News, I'll be providing an illustration a week for kids to colour in and I'll be judging and featuring the best entries!

I'm really excited about this new opportunity as ever since I got here I've felt totally inspired by this place! First up for the kids to colour in is a dog. There are so many around Phuket and their little characters may just be my new obsession!

A little fellow who caught my eye...

I.F. Prepare

It took me a while to think of an idea this week. Then in the middle of the night it came to me. "Cabin crew, prepare for landing". Drawing the inside of a plane was quite a challenge and not something I've done before so it took me a little longer than usual. Am quite pleased with the outcome though and enjoyed working on the different animal characters.
